IPL Auction 2020: Chris Lynn

IPL Franchises’ release of the squads did turn a few heads. Although experience is key in such a tournament, several young players were preferred. While the IPL 2021 Auction is a mega auction, teams have cleared a number of players. Two franchises, MI and CSK managed to keep their core intact. Some other franchises such as RCB and RR lost patience and decided to do a complete overhaul of their players. One common strategy that IPL franchises use is the buyback. Releasing players who are worth a fortune and buying them back for a lesser price is becoming a trend. With this strategy bound to come into play in IPL Auction 2020, here are three players who could be bought back by IPL Franchises.

Chris Morris (DC IPL Auction 2020)

IPL Auction 2020: Chris morris dc

Chris Morris was retained by DC in IPL 2015 as the marquee player. Although he was assigned numero uno status, he hasn’t been able to justify his price tag. He did show glimpses of what he is capable of with both ball and bat in the last few years. His whirlwind fifty against Gujarat Lions is the highlight of his IPL career. The South African has been released by Delhi Capitals prior to the IPL Auction 2020. One of the main reasons would be cut down on his price tag. With Delhi Capitals looking visibly light on fast bowling resources, Chris Morris could well end up with DC at the end of IPL Auction 2020.

Chris Lynn

Chris Lynn is another such player who was released prior to IPL Auction 2020. The big-hitting Aussie sprung into prominence for KKR with a superb catch against RCB in IPL 2014. But his batting didn’t click until IPL 2017 when he scored over 300 runs in just five games. He has been everpresent in the KKR side for the past two years although his performances haven’t justified his hefty price tag. With Shubman Gill expected to open the batting in IPL 2020, he will need an overseas partner. Considering Chris Lynn’s prowess, he should be bought back by KKR in all likelihood.

Jaydev Unadkat

Jaydev Unadkat is an interesting case. IPL 2017 saw Jaydev Unadkat pick over 20 wickets for RPS. This season triggered a bidding war in IPL 2018 as Jaydev Unadkat was bought by RR for INR 11.5 Crores. He was released last year and bought back by RR for INR 8.5 Crores. While he hasn’t been able to justify his price-tag, he showed glimpses of what he is capable of under the temporary captaincy of Steve Smith. With his best form coming under Smith, Unadkat could well find a way back to RR in IPL Auction 2020.
