RCB is one of the most followed team in IPL. In spite of having Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers in its ranks , RCB IPL Auction 2020 plans just haven’t cracked the code yet. This year, they have made a few changes to the set-up. While the appointment of Mike Hesson bodes well, the release of some players are turned a few heads. Nevertheless, RCB is gearing up for a new era. With the emergence of Devdutt Padikkal, RCB is close to finalizing a core group.
With the upcoming auction in mind, RCB does have a few targets. While RCB IPL Auction 2020 plans are anyone’s guess, there are a few spots up for grabs. Although AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli feature in the batting unit, they lack depth. With this being just the tip of the iceberg, they have a lot of work to do in the upcoming auctions. Walking along the same lines, here are three RCB IPL Auction 2020 possible buys
1 Glenn Maxwell
Who wouldn’t want Glenn Maxwell in their side? RCB released all but two of their overseas players in the IPL Retention List. While Moeen Ali is expected to play as the floaters, they are in dire need of a finisher. Glenn Maxwell is an accomplished T20 cricket with a century to his name in international cricket as well. Although he has featured for MI and DC, his best performances came for KXIP in IPL 2014. While he is adept at finishing a game, his off-spin is a useful asset as well. Although Maxwell is currently out citing mental health issues, he is set to feature in the IPL Auction. Nevertheless, Glenn Maxwell is surely going to be one of the top names in the RCB IPL Auction 2020 wishlist.
2 Mitchell Starc
Almost half the IPL Franchises are on the lookout for an overseas pacer. Although there are a number of quality options in the IPL Auction 2020, Mitchell Starc stands out. The left-arm quick is one of the best white-ball bowlers in the world. While he was bought by KKR in 2018, he didn’t feature for them owing to injury. Prior to this stint, his performances for RCB in IPL 2014 and IPL 2015 are still fresh on everyone’s minds. Currently, Mitchell Starc recently picked six wickets against Pakistan in the Pink Ball Test against Pakistan, which indicates his bowling ability. While he is a brilliant death bowler, he is also capable of wielding the long handle if necessary. All in all, Mitchell Starc’s name should pop up in the RCB IPL 2020 Auction list with the Aussie capable of transforming their bowling unit instantly.
3 David Miller
RCB released quite a few players ahead of the IPL Auction 2020. With the likes of Shimron Hetmyer and Colin de Grandhomme being released, they are lacking an explosive batsman. One who can go big from ball one. While they do have one in Moeen Ali, RCB would want to have another overseas batsman in the middle order. One player who perfectly fits the bill is South African, David Miller. RCB are well aware of what David Miller is capable of.
While Miller is known for his quick-fire knocks, his highest IPL score came against RCB. Although KXIP was down and out in an IPL 2013 fixture, David Miller smashed a 37-ball hundred to establish himself as a viable finisher. In spite of his batting ability, Miller’s release from the KXIP roster bodes well for RCB. With the South African being one of the best fielders in world cricket, he is one to watch out for in the IPL Auction.
